UX/UI keys to improve design and conversion in apps

Having a good interface design (UI) and experience (UX), users will find the app attractive, easy to use and effective in meeting their needs, which will increase conversions and you can achieve your goals, collect data, customize your services and even optimize your marketing strategies.

Conversions will vary depending on your objectives, since a conversion can be when a customer makes a purchase through the app, or when a customer registers and creates an account on the same platform, when downloading content or simply when the user interacts.

One or more UX/UI strategies applied to app design will seek to improve the user experience and facilitate specific actions, such as purchasing, registering or filling out forms, and here are some strategies that you can apply to increase your conversions.

Intuitive design

This app design strategy refers to the creation of an interface that allows users to interact in a simple, natural and effortless way, considering how other applications work and are composed. Several aspects are included in this strategy, such as:

- Clear navigation: Where the navigation structure is logical and easy to follow, with well organized menus and options.

- Recognizable elements: Use icons and buttons that are familiar to users, such as the “shopping cart” icon, to help customers understand the app faster.

- Immediate feedback: Provide visual responses to user actions, such as a color change on a button when clicked. This will make users feel that their interaction is acknowledged.

Customized content

In this strategy, content is tailored to the preferences, interests and behaviors of each user, taking into account their browsing history, previous purchases and shared preferences, to make the experience more personal, engaging and deeper. Some elements you can implement are:

- Personalized notifications: Send specific offers or reminders based on user behavior, such as a discount on a product left in the cart.

- Tailored content: On streaming platforms, offer movies, series and music based on the user's tastes with more chances of conversions.

- Adaptive interface: At this point you can offer shortcuts or options for the user to enter and locate more quickly the most used elements of the app.

Gamification

This is a very interesting app design strategy, as game elements and mechanics are incorporated into an application that is not necessarily a game, in order to increase user engagement, motivation and interaction.

Have you ever downloaded an app where a game gives you points or discounts to be used in that same app? Well, that's basically it, but there are more ways to apply this strategy.

- Points: Users earn points by performing specific actions, such as completing a profile, making a purchase or interacting with content.

- Levels or ranks: As users accumulate points or complete tasks, they can advance to different levels, giving them a sense of progress.

- Rewards: Users receive incentives such as discounts, free products or access to exclusive features for completing tasks or reaching certain goals.

- Achievements or badges: Virtual prizes are awarded for completing certain challenges, such as making a purchase for the first time or using the app continuously for several days.

Consistency in design

When working on app design, uniformity in the use of visual and functional elements must be taken into account, so that users detect that buttons, icons, colors, typographies and patterns are unified in all screens. Some aspects to consider are:

- Visual and functional consistency: Uniformity must be maintained in the app's colors, fonts, iconography and graphic styles, and interactive elements must work the same or similar across the platform.

- Language consistency: tone, words and messages should be consistent throughout the app and the same language should be used for specific terms such as “log in” or “create account”.

- Cross-platform consistency: This point is very important, because if the app is available on different devices or operating systems, the experience should be similar across platforms.

Accessibility

Accessibility is one of the most important strategies for app design, as it will allow the platform to be used by the largest number of people, also taking into account those who have a disability or limitation. By applying this strategy you can improve the user experience and even have more loyal customers. You can do this in the following ways:

- Text size and readability: Use clear and large enough fonts to make it easy for anyone to read and offer the adjustment tool to modify the text according to each need.

- Compatibility with screen readers: Implement text, buttons and images that can be read and described by assistive technologies, such as screen readers, for the visually impaired.

- Auditory and sensory feedback: By incorporating sounds or vibrations that provide additional feedback, you will help people with visual or hearing disabilities to have a better understanding
